How this business loan calculator works
For a standard fixed-rate reducing-balance loan, MesraTools estimates the regular amortized payment and separates each payment into principal and interest. It can also model interest-only repayment, a maturity balloon, recurring service fees and optional extra principal payments.
Interest rate versus effective APR
The stated interest rate describes interest charged on the loan. The estimated effective APR shown here also considers entered upfront and recurring fees against the net proceeds received, making it easier to compare loans with different fee structures. Actual lender APR methodology and legally required disclosures can differ by jurisdiction.
Compare the real business cost
Review payment size, total interest, total fees, total cash cost, payoff time and the amortization schedule. The scenario table illustrates how a lower or higher rate and a shorter or longer term can change cost.
Cash-flow planning
The optional revenue, operating-expense and existing-debt fields produce a simple payment-coverage planning ratio. It is not DSCR underwriting, a credit score, or a prediction of approval. Lenders may use EBITDA, net operating income, tax returns, collateral, guarantees, credit history and their own definitions.
Before borrowing
Confirm whether the lender quotes a reducing-balance rate, flat rate, factor rate, variable rate or another method. Also check origination, documentation, application, annual, monthly service, late-payment and early-settlement charges. A line of credit or merchant cash advance should use a dedicated model rather than this fixed-term calculator.
Important
This calculator is an educational estimate, not a lender quotation, credit offer, approval decision, accounting determination or financial advice.
Understand Business Loan Calculator
Business Loan Calculator converts your entered assumptions into a numerical estimate so you can understand the result, compare alternatives and make a more informed planning decision.
When this tool is useful

How to use it well
Enter the requested values carefully, confirm units and percentages, run the calculation, then review the headline result together with the breakdown and assumptions.
How to interpret the result
Review periodic payment, total interest, total repayment and remaining balance over time. For business planning, compare debt service with expected cash flow.
Practical suggestions
- Stress-test the payment against a weaker revenue month.
- Compare total interest across different terms, not just the periodic payment.
- Include lender fees and effective borrowing costs when available.
Visualization: This tool is suitable for a meaningful chart or scenario visualization. When a chart is available, use it together with the numerical/table result rather than as a decorative graphic.
